We went into London for reasons that will soon be in my LiveJournal! From Royston by train to London Kings Cross, bus 73 to Islington, lunch and more, then bus 43 to London Bridge, Southeastern train to Greenwich, dinner etc. before taking Thames Clippers to Waterloo, bus 148 to Victoria, quick stop before taking a 73 back to Kings Cross, before a train home to Royston. Tired but happy after all that!

Snapped just before I boarded the bus, Stagecoach Cambridge 18058 leaves Haverhill behind, to do a day on the citi2.

In passing, I recently mentioned to Hertfordshire County Council that we could do with a bus shelter here – and we got one! This was installed just before we went on hols, but this is the first chance I’ve had to snap it.

Today’s return from Irvine to England was done via stops at Gretna Green, Manchester Trafford Centre, and a refuel stop at Norton Cannes, before returning everyone to Buckinghamshire, and then dropping us at St Albans for a return cab journey home.

Today’s trip from Irvine was to Glasgow, first stopping at Glasgow Cathedral, before continuing to the Transport Museum, and Glasgow University, before some free time in the afternoon, returning via Irvine.

Today's trip from Irvine was via Ardossan and the MV Caledonian Isles CalMac ferry to Brodick, on the Isle of Arran. An interesting selection!

A trip from Irvine via Ayr and Alloway. We also had a run to Craig Tara on the Stagecoach Western open top bus, before the weather got really wet!

Day 1 of our holiday in Ayrshire - so, National Express 787 from Royston 0524 to Hemel Hempstead Bus Station 0650, then departing there at 0720 on a coach from Wootten's. We went via the M40, M42, M6(T), M6, Preston, M6, A74(M), A71 to Irvine, Menzies Hotel. Pictures from various motorway services, and a couple from Preston Bus Station.

To round off July, a trip from Royston via Stagecoach 26 to Cambridge, Stagecoach 55 via St Ives (stopped to catch the bus user surgery vehicle in the market area) to Huntingdon, then onto the 65 to St Neots, and back to Cambridge on the citi4, before continuing back to Royston on the 26. Note that the camera malfunctioned twice, so I had to use a piece of Windows software to retrieve the "lost" images - all still there... thankfully... after 6,000 or so images, the camera might need a rest, but a new card will hopefully allow it to continue a little longer.

From Royston via Stagecoach 26 to Cambridge, Stagecoach X5 to Bicester, Stagecoach S5 to Oxford town centre, Stagecoach 14A to Oxford rail station, First Great Western stopper to Didcot Parkway, then a mainline FGW train to Reading. From there, stopped for various things, before getting a direct FGW train back to Oxford, then the X5 back to Cambridge (Parkside) where Caroline picked me up. The wind was rather blowy...

I added an Intalink Explorer to the X5 MegaRiderGold for this week, and mixed around parts of Herts & Beds. So, from Royston on Richmond's market day bus 23 to Hitchin, to Biggleswade on Centrebus 82, to Bedford via Sandy on Stagecoach M3. After shopping and spotting (and lunch!) continued via Stagecoach 160 to Leighton Buzzard, Arriva 69 to Luton Church Street, Arriva 100 to Hitchin, Arriva 97 to Letchworth Garden City Station, where I met up with Caroline, and we went for dinner. Then, a FCC train back to Royston!

First day out of several this week - from Royston via Stagecoach 26 to Cambridge, Stagecoach X5 to Bedford, Stagecoach P1 to Northampton, Stagecoach 96 to Rugby, Centrebus 140 to Leicester, Stagecoach X7 back to Northampton, Stagecoach P1 to Bedford, and the X5 back to central Cambridge, where C picked me up. This week sees a diversion on the M50, so single decks are being used on it, with some interesting vehicle workings from Bedford depot in the offing this week!

One of Arriva's Versa's in Old North Road, Royston, this morning.

This includes the Peterborough Bus Rally pictures from Sunday 5th July, the Anglia Bus Forum visit to the Stagecoach Peterborough depot on the same day. We also had a brief look around the farm part of Sacrewell Farm before going home... also, a couple of a Burton's coach, snapped up at Baldock Services.

We started at central Peterborough, with visits to the premises of Grettons/One Call, Emblings/Judds/Tydds, then to Whittlesey Market Square for half an hour, then a brief stop at Serpentine Green. We then continued to the Wansford premises of the Nene Valley Railway, with a tour of the sheds thrown in. We then went back into central Peterborough. Come back shortly for the pictures taken the following day!

From Royston by Charter Travel 127 to the bus station, then Arriva 331 to Ware/Hertford, 724 to St Albans, then Arriva new Service 712 to London Victoria, Travel London 211 to Fulham Palace Road. Returned via 211 to Victoria, then Richmond's 796 Commuter Service to Royston Tesco.

The work at Royston Station is now more or less finished - car park and platform extension. Also, finally caught up with one of the ex-Silverlink Class 321 trains... and a bus as well, for the rest of you. Oh yeah and I was going to work too...

From Royston via Stagecoach 26 to Royston, 45 to Huntingdon via Wyton, 46 to Peterborough, some around Peterborough, then 32 to Chatteris, X9 to Cambridge, and 26 back to Royston. This was the first day out on my own (aside from work) for some time, long hot day, but enjoyable!

There has been a Volvo B10M/Alexander PS type on Royston outstation work (26/27) of Stagecoach Cambridge for the last few days... not sure yet if it is a new regular thing or not. Anyway, snapped it up from the passenger seat of the car.

Two pictures of vehicles from Burton's H1 service between Trumpington Park & Ride and Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. The H1 as is will be withdrawn at the end of July, to be replaced by a new Stagecoach Service C.

One from Royston railway station on Friday (extended P2 car park now almost complete) and two from Cambridge on Sunday (ALX400 Tridents on some citi7's on Sundays).

Went with Caroline to her appointment at Lister Hospital Stevenage, and four pictures - one more of Royston Station Cat, and three from central Stevenage.

This long set stalled for about 20 mins, made some noise, then went off again. All bar the last picture are 1 hour earlier than the timestamp - for some reason, those went onto the camera instead of the SD card. The latter pic around 1400 was when the set drove off.

A couple of pics from Saturday morning, when the Intalink promotional bus came to Royston (I've missed it here the last two years, but got it elsewhere). Also, after we went out to Cineworld at Cambridge Leisure and back, we had the car washed by the handwash crew at the Foxton level crossing/railway station. Now that the car is clean, I can show it off!

I've had a couple of days in Lowestoft, Suffolk, with friends. Some pictures of local scenery and hotel, as requested by Caroline, but one or two buses in here too. I was away 1-3 May, with all these pics taken on the 1st and 2nd.

Taken in a yard near St Ives, as they are currently locked up for today (bank holiday). These should be going on the road in the next few days, initally on existing services 15, 45, 55, but then onto the Guided Busway later in the year.

A day in the car via Newmarket for lunch, and then a walk around Anglesey Abbey & Gardens, and Lode Mill, before returning to Royston.

Our soft toy collection has moved to the top of a longer a set of drawers, as we were running out of room on top of the narrow one...

A day out from Royston via Stagecoach 26 to Cambridge, then the 55 to St Ives direct, 45 to Huntingdon via RAF Wyton and Houghton, 65 to St Neots via Offord Cluny, and then the X5 back to Cambridge, for a 26 back to Royston. Chanced upon a familiar face in St Neots that I'd seen before, but this was the first chance that I had to stop.

Caroline and I took the X5 to Oxford, had a look around... including the climb to the top of Carfax Tower!

Some pictures from Wimpole Hall, Cambridgeshire. First time we'd been in and around...

For my 20th intalink explorer in the last two years, I travel from Royston to Hertford via Arriva 331, to Hatfield Galleria via Arriva GreenLine 724, to Hemel Hempstead on uno 634, to Aylesbury via Chesham on Tiger Line T1, to Leighton Buzzard on Arriva 150, to Luton on Arriva 70, to Hitchin on Arriva 100, to Letchworth on Arriva 97A, and back to Royston via Centrebus 91... a huge number of miles for £7.00! Not as many pictures because of bright sunlight, but managed a good handful anyway.

On the way home from a MRI appointment at Addenbrooke's, H1 entered service on the Park & Ride in the late afternoon - either as a crew break relief or as a peak time extra bus for roadworks, not sure which.

Turns out I left a bag on the 366 on Saturday... so another day around! First Capital Connect train Royston - Finsbury Park then onto Essex Road, 271 bus to Moorgate, 76 bus to St Paul's, 15 bus to Aldwych, 11 bus to Victoria Station, Southern Railway to Wandsworth Road, the "ghost" rail replacement coach to Ealing Broadway, District Line to Monument then onto Barking, 5 bus to BK garage, 387 back to Barking town centre, 366 back to Triangle Retail Park, another 366 to East Beckton Asda, then DLR from Beckton to Canning Town, then Jubilee Line to London Bridge, Northern Line to Kings Cross St Pancras, then FCC train back to Royston. Caroline wanted to spend the day at a Confraternity of Saint James "Practical Pilgrim Day", so we went from Royston by train to London Kings Cross, then the 45 bus to Blackfriars Road. From there, I continued via the RV1 bus to Waterloo, 139 bus to Trafalgar Square, 29 bus to Tottenham Court Road, and then... Central line to Stratford, Jubilee line to Canning Town, DLR to Woolwich Arsenal, SouthEastern train to Gravesend, back to Greenhithe, Arriva/Fastrack B to Bluewater, EnsignBus X80 to Chafford Hundred, c2c train to Barking, 366 bus to Triangle Retail Park, another 366 to East Beckton, DLR from Beckton to Canning Town, Jubilee Line to Southwark, where I met back up with C. 63 bus to a pub near Farringdon for dinner, and another to Kings Cross, before a train to Royston. Got a partial suntan in February, just nine days after the snow! Anyway, didn't get as many pics because of the too bright light, but got a fair few to show here.

Following the highlights I had put in at CRC last October, I've decided to go for something brighter. Something too un-natural (i.e. pink) wasn't to Caroline's taste, so we agreed that a red henna would, potentially, look nice. So, here's a Valentine's day with a difference, as a few hours are spent with C slapping this stuff onto me... see the LJ for more!

A selection of pictures from around Edinburgh early morning, before I take the bus through to Dundee.

It's a little bit of a building site outside, and in some parts still under renovation, but Travelodge (hotel chain) have taken over the former Edinburgh Learmonth Hotel, off the Queensferry Road, near Orchard Brae. There is a new decor smell, but not too bad, it's been open a couple of weeks. C wanted a pic of the room, so here goes two!

For a final bash for the year, I had to go into Dundee, so C dropped me at Friockheim bus stance, then I took the Stagecoach Strathtay 27 to Forfar, and the 20 to Dundee, then the same in reverse. I got some pics more than once, as I thought the camera may have lost the first five (it was just one that did not turn out, thankfully, but I caught up with the others by this point!)

In another one of these unusual twists, here are some scenic shots taken out of the car at Wester Denoon (Angus), before a brief stop at Ninewells Hospital Dundee. Hoping for the new 333 vehicles, but not to be, as the older ones (if you can count 08 plates to be old!) are in use. Still, some other Stagecoach, Travel Dundee/NX Dundee, and Vinci Park stuff snapped up. I did get (a) Tayway13 branded MAN/Enviro300 that I missed last time I was around, so not an entirley wasted wait.

We left Farnell on Saturday morning, before driving via Gowanbank, Forfar, Southmuir, Lintrathen, Glenisla, Blacklunnans, Kirkmichael, Strathardle, Moulin, to Pitlochry, before continuing via the A9 to Perth, onto North Muirton Industrial Estate then back to the Perth A9 City-By Pass... we're not finished yet!... then onto Perth Park + Ride at Broxden, via A9, Aberuthven, Auchterarder, A9 to Dunblane South, then Doune, Callendar, and the A81 via Strathblane into central Glasgow, before we picked up Bobby B after his shift, who took us out to an Italian place in Glasgow's West End. We dropped him off, before returning via Stirling, St Ninan's Toll Shell garage for fuel, then direct to Farnell. A long day with well over thirteen hours out, but it was worth it! Collection includes scenic pictures, plus some bus stuff from Stagecoach, Bankfoot Buses, Smith & Son's new vehicles for Perth Park + Ride, Broons Buses, Elizabeth Yule, Docherty's Midland Coaches, Pegasus Travel, Crieff Travel, JP Coaches, Rennie's, plus much more!

This year, we spent the day with Caroline's family, in Farnell, Angus, Scotland.

Hmm, what can I say. In the mood for an evening snack, went out for a bite to eat. A few pictures taken around the city centre area (mostly camera rested on litter bins, etc.) on the newly-switched-on Dundee City Christmas lights. Then, on the way back, the Fire Brigade (then Police, then the Electricity, then the joiner, and the rest) turn up, to investigate where the leaking light is coming from... Sunday (16th November) was the first day "in service" of the new Milton Park & Ride, north of Cambridge. A few pics taken the following day (Monday 17th November) from Cambridge, Milton P&R, and Milton Village.

For various reasons, we had a weekend away in Brighton - including a day trip via Portsmouth to the Isle of Wight. Lots of unusual and interesting things... read lots more about the weekend on my LJ.

A full day out with Tails Prower 2040 on a Stagecoach SuperDayRider - £11.00 each - leaving Dundee on the 99 to St Andrews, X26 to Leven, X4 to Glenrothes, X1 to Kirkcaldy, X58 to Edinburgh, 53 to Ferrytoll, 55 to Dunfermline, 74 to Stirling, 23 to Guardbridge, then the 99A back to Dundee. As well as being a long day out, it was also my first visit to all the refurbished Fife bus stations - I'd not been around since the previous contractor for the St Andrews, Leven, Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy projects went bust. Also, the second last day of the X2 to Roysth Ferry Terminal - the service should be finishing on Saturday 13th September (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) when Superfast Roysth to Zebrugge ferry finishes too.

I have a large collection of these "blue books", and the publisher recently kindly replaced one that I'd bought with the first 16 pages caught up in the binding! So, here it sits well with the rest of them!

Starting from Dundee City Centre, I took Travel Dundee's 28 to Charleston, and then a visit to the new Stagecoach Strathtay depot at Wester Gourdie Industrial Estate. I then took a 28 back to Brownhill Road, Outer Circle 9 to Kirkton, then a 19 to the city centre. Continued after a pause on the 28/29 to Asda Milton, then out for the rest of the afternoon and evening with my mother. Some random pics here too.

Traveling around on a Tayside DayRider, from Dundee via Stagecoach Perth 16A to Perth Royal Infirmary, Stagecoach Perth 2 to Perth City Centre, Stagecoach Perth X27 to Dunkeld, Stagecoach Strathtay 62 to Blairgowrie, then the Stagecoach Strathtay 57 back to Dundee. Was then followed with some shopping, chatting and an early dinner out with my sister, in Dundee city centre.

Following last Tuesday's trip, the plan for the day changed a few times, as several buses ran late or didn't show up... so, with that in mind, Stagecoach 26 to Cambridge, 55 to Huntingdon, 66 to St Neots, X5 to Madingley Road P&R, 77 (red P&R bus) to The Grafton, then another back to Drummer St for the 26 home. Today was the first day (following the Bank Holiday weekend) of the new Stagecoach in the Fens & Huntingdon network. So, to try it out, an early start on the 26 to Cambridge, X9 to Chatteris, 35 to Manea, 34 to March Tesco, 33 to Peterborough, then a special with the open top FLF on the 24 to Oundle and 23 to Peterborough, back to regular service with the 36 to Wisbech, X9 to Ely, 9 to Cambridge, then the last 88 (Park & Ride Blue) of the night to Trumpington P&R, where C picked me up, and we went for a takeaway afterwards! Lots of mileage, lots of humorous incidents - see the LJ. I enjoyed myself at least, but then, I knew where the new buses were going... or did I?

A pre-service-changes bash out through Huntingdonshire on a Stagecoach DayRider+... from Royston to Cambridge on the 26, to Huntingdon on the 554, St Neots on the 566, meet up with Bob (another admin from ABF), X5 to Madingley Road P&R, red P&R bus (77) to The Grafton (shopping centre), walk back to Drummer Street for the 26 back to Royston. An enjoyable day - a bit shorter maybe, but I enjoyed shopping out around the city, as it's C's birthday this coming Monday. Anyway, read the LJ for more.

After the end of an enjoyable weekend away, some pictures around the hotel complex (including some of the Landcruiser!), and then we drove around our old haunts in Hampshire, Surrey and West London. We were doing so well... until we got caught up behind a STOLEN First Somerset bus, that appeared to have been pinched from Minehead, and dumped behind Camberley Sainsbury's... blocking us in for two hours and a bit in the process! Now, if that's not a sign of something...

A day traveling from Royston via Arriva 331 to Hertford, Arriva 724 to Garston, Arriva 6 to Watford Town Centre, Arriva 8 to Northwood, First London 331 to Uxbridge, Arriva 305 to High Wycombe, then the Arriva Line850 to Reading Station, where C picked me up, and we went off in the car to a hotel near Reading for the weekend, and then took a friend to drop her off in Newbury, before returning to the hotel. Aside from the 331, which cost me 90p off my Oyster card versus the cash fare of £2.00, this was all done using a £7.00 Intalink Explorer. One issue of the day was a hold-up on the 305, following a passenger suffered a seizure - otherwise, a good but long day!

Another long day out on an Intalink Explorer, pushing back the boundaries to (once again) visit the most westerly point on the Arriva The Shires public network - Oxford. So, from Royston Bus Station on Centrebus 90 to Baldock, visit to the Intalink publicity bus, Herberts 391 to Stevenage, uno 634 to Hemel Hempstead, Tiger Line T1 to Lye Green, Wootten's Depot, then have a look around and meet Michael W, before taking the T1 through to Aylesbury, Arriva 280 to Oxford High Street, walk/hobble through the cobbles to Gloucester Green for some pictures, before getting Stagecoach X5 back to Cambridge Madingley Road Park & Ride, where C picked me up and drove back to Royston. A very enjoyable day, with lots of pictures - including some taken in the changeable wind and rain!

An early start with an 8-shaped twist! Started on the Arriva 331x from Royston to Hertford, uno 341 to Hatfield College Lane Campus, uno 602 to Watford High Street, Arriva TfL 142 to Stanmore Broadway, uno 615 to Hatfield Galleria, uno 636 to Luton Silver Street, walk through the shops, and then from Luton Church Street to Hitchin on Arriva 102, then Arriva 92 from Hitchin to Letchworth Station Road, and Centrebus 91 back to Royston. A day of changeable weather, so please bear this in mind with the pictures!

I took Caroline out for lunch in Melbourn this afternoon (16 month anniversary, ya know!)... and a few pictures of Myall's Dart/Marshall that was unusually in Royston bus station today. Also, a few pictures of new bus stops around Melbourn village (well, I took them when they were old and battered, so it's only fair).

Left Royston at 0540, to Royston Station for the 0600 train to Stevenage. Uno 635 and 634 to Hemel Hempstead, before sampling the first morning of Wootten's Tiger Line Service T1. I managed to sample and photograph all three Tigers in service, traveling between Hemel, Bovingdon Village, Hemel again, Chesham, and onto Aylesbury. From there, Arriva Line300 to High Wycombe, 305 to Uxbridge, then went to see Steve P in West Drayton. From there, he dropped me off back at London Heathrow Airport, and I took the Arriva GreenLine 724 back to Hatrfield Station, for one train through to Royston, getting back about 15 and a half hours after I started! Knackered after a long day in the heat (sunburnt too!), but a very enjoyable day!

The second Intalink Explorer day out of the week, and a final warm up before Monday coming. So, from Royston via Centrebus 90 to Baldock, Herbert's Travel 391 to Stevenage, uno 634 to Hemel Hempstead, Arriva 500 to Aylesbury, Arriva 300 to High Wycombe, Arriva 52 to Hemel via Chesham & HMP The Mount, then a luckily timed earlier than planned uno 634 to Stevenage bus station, which continues as a 635 to the railway station, and a FCC train back to Royston.

An interesting one this... revisiting some places not been (or not been in daylight!) for some time. So, from Royston via the Tuesday only Richmond's Service 23 to Hitchin, Arriva 100 to Luton Airport, Arriva 61 to Aylesbury, Arriva 500 to Hemel Hempstead, uno 634 to Hatfield Galleria, uno 341 to Hertford Bus Station, and Arriva 331 back to Royston. An interesting selection - not too many from Aylesbury this time, as the bus station is under redevelopment, as well as still being underground, and not a lot of time... but keep watching!

A medical appointment in Glasgow in the morning means a 28 hour round trip from Royston (Herts!) via London KX, London Euston, Glasgow, Birmingham and Cambridge. Aside from some issues with the train journeys, I did have a good time around Glasgow, Paisley and Glasgow Airport in the morning, with lots of pictures taken! A half-day bash from Royston via Reed (Services 331 and 334) to Cambridge, returning on the 26. Some shopping also done around the city, as well as some pictures nabbed.

Arrived today, but not yet in service... my new Nokia 2630, even smaller and lighter than the very slim Motorola L6! My sister said I needed a new phone, and the keypad is heavily worn after 15/16 months or so of intense use!

I had to pick up Caroline from Heathrow Airport late evening, and I also wanted to try the Saturday only 43/10 combination... so here goes! From Royston via Richmond's 43 to Chrishall, which continues as a 10 to Bishop's Stortford (one journey on Sats only), then Arriva 510 to Harlow, and 724 almost end-to-end from Harlow to Heathrow Central Bus Stn. Went for dinner at a takeaway in Hayes (Fairey Corner), bus back to Harlington Corner, and back to Heathrow... waiting on Caroline's flight back from Madrid, and then we both got the last 787 of the night back to Royston. A tour for around twenty members and guests of the Anglia Bus Forum, using the Bristol FLF Lodekkas FLF452/453. We visited Cambridge, Waterbeach Green, Cambridge Research Park (actually in Landbeach), Stretham Church, Little Thetford Corner, Ely depot of Stagecoach, Cambridge depot of Stagecoach, and back to the city (with through running to/from Peterborough). Trip was by kind permission of Stagecoach, especially supplying the vehicle and fuel without charge. A second set will follow this one, with pictures from Caroline's camera.

A day trip for numerous reasons to Peterborough, so I started in Royston via Cambridge, St Ives (Market Day), Huntingdon, Peterborough, Chatteris, Cambridge back to Royston. One pic from St Ives (former Cavalier Travel Dart with Stagecoach logos) and the rest are from the end of Peterborough bus station.

A recently-delivered new catalogue from TallGirls showed a new very long black dress – it’s 64 inches, from top to bottom! So, it seemed like an ideal replacement for my often-noted black dress… which is now looking less than it’s best after many years of wear, and many compliments received! Caroline liked the one in the picture, so we’ve ordered two… but one is on back-order! So, I put the two of them side-by-side for a picture (old and new). Like an articulated truck or bus, or a train with too many carriages for the platform, an issue may be storage…

These coaches are working Service 787 from Heathrow to Cambridge via Royston (Tesco) - and I snapped up one this evening, while waiting on C to pick me up (we were going out for the evening!)

Following the enjoyment of Friday's trip, decided to revist the Galleria again! ... ish! I went for a day trip spin around Hertfordshire, travelling south along the A10 corridor, and back north loosely around the A1 and 'Great Northern' rail line. So, from Royston on Arriva 331 bus to Ware, Arriva 311 bus to Waltham Cross, Metroline 242 bus to Potters Bar, uno 610 bus to Hatfield, uno 634 bus to Stevenage, Trustline 700 bus to Letchworth, then Centrebus 91 bus back to Royston. A day-trip to London for an interview, and in the afternoon I crossed the city to have a look at the newly opened to the public Heathrow Terminal 5. The bus parking area is enclosed, thus making pictures a little difficult!

A full day out - train from Royston to Cambridge, National Express 314 to Coventry Pool Meadow Bus Stn, Travel Coventry 27 to Coventry Rail Station, train to Birmingham, then repeat in reverse. Plenty of new NX group stuff and repaints, predominantly on the 50 and in Cov. A few other miscellaneous pictures along the way too. Some of the stuff around Cov bus station gets a bit shadowy (and some are grainier because of the zoom), because of high buildings and getting later in the afternoon, but the pictures should still make sense.

Caroline is working from home for part of today, and she's under this pile of kit somewhere... Yes, that is/was our kitchen table...

I thought I'd seen some bad ideas for digging things up. But, while parts of Cambridge city centre are already being dug up, get some diggers in, and start shoveling the road outside the bus station for four days... and I heard later that yesterday, one of the workies went through a gas main!...

So, ok, who thought I'd be here today, doing this, this time last year? OK, maybe not! Last day today of Richmond's Royston Town Service 17, and before we both went shopping for groceries, I went into town to get a few pictures of it on the last day. I especially wanted one coming down Sun Hill, which is a rather narrow steep hill one-way road, which will have no services after today.

Trumpington Park & Ride was very busy - 1342 spaces in total, and 336 empty when we arrived early in the afternoon (well over 1,000 cars), and all the short stay car parks in the city centre were full... The fullness at Trumpington lead to some rather large queues at The Grafton...

Today I travelled from one side of the county to the other! A visit to Hemel Hempstead saw me get there on a 331 to Hertford, then a 724 to Garston, then a 6 to Hemel. Took the NatEx back to Royston after a busy day in town! Wide selection of mainly Arriva stuff, but a few oddities too.

From Royston to Cambridge by Stagecoach 26, to Huntingdon on H&D 555, to Peterborough on Stagecoach 16, to Chatteris on Stagecoach X8, to Cambridge on Stagecoach X9, back to Royston on the 26. First time out with a Cambridge Multibus ticket - universal acceptance without question!

The last day before I head north, and Caroline & I travelled from Royston to Brighton, and then I took a bus/train into London, followed by the bus back to Dundee.

After taking Stagecoach Cambus Service 26 from Royston to Cambridge, I had some time before and after an appointment in Cambridge, before meeting up with Caroline once again.

Another day on an Intalink Explorer. Starting from Royston, 331 bus to Hertford, 310 bus to Waltham Cross, 242 bus to Potters Bar Garage, 398 bus to Borehamwood, 7 bus to Watford, 6 bus to Garston, 1 bus to Watford, 724 bus to Hatfield, and train back to Royston.

We'd gone to visit a friend who lives near Northampton, and I realised that Caroline's skirt went well with the flowers on the arch in her garden...

From Ingoldmells, bus to Skegness, coach to Peterborough, train to Cambridge, get picked up by car by Caroline, park it at Trumpington Park & Ride, take the P&R bus back into Cambridge city centre for a bit, back to Trumpington, then take the car back to Royston... sounds so simple, but it was a lot of fun.

OK, you'd have thought they would have learned from the last one of these (see March). But no, they've given Steve Parker another hi-performance car, this time to deliver from London to Aberdeen Airport, and back by flight. He stopped in Menzieshill, Tesco Riverside, and Dundee City Centre. Typical SITC weather i.e. lashing it down!

I did this one back in early 2005, but Stagecoach Strathtay have recently taken on the 103 ("On Loan To Bluebird"), so another bash needed! From Dundee to Forfar to Brechin to Montrose to Laurencekirk to Aberdeen to Stonehaven to Laurencekirk to Montrose to Dundee.

The road at the side of Ninewells Hospital has been closed to allow work to construct a new nuclear bunker, and two pictures from the vicinity (this is the bit of work that, once over, will also allow the buses on X-CD Services 13/14 to get down to the new link road, and follow their scripted route). No pictures of yesterday, but here is the results of a slightly different trip to St Andrews. It's the first day of the Lammas Fair, it's the weekend of a battle re-enactment at St Andrews Castle, and it is also a chance to see some of the St Andrews Stagecoach fleet parked up at Petheram Bridge. Because of the reconstruction work at the Bus Station, some buses stay overnight at the car park, and on Sundays when less buses are needed, they can park there all day.

Day eight of my ten days holiday, and time for a quick look around Dundee City Centre. Both Olympian coaches of Travel Greyhound were spotted, and a "blue" brandded bus on the 29 - yes, but wait till you see which blue branded bus it was...

This was the seventh of my ten days of holiday, and a nearly sixteen hour trip took me from Dundee to Forfar to Brechin to Stonehaven (on the 24 via Laurencekirk) to Aberdeen to Inverurie to Ellon Park & Ride to Fraserburgh to Peterhead to Aberdeen (via Cruden Bay) to Stonehaven to Montrose to Laurencekirk to Montrose to Ferryden to Sunnyside to Montrose to Dundee...

A very wet and windy day limited the photos, but I travelled from Dundee via St Andrews, Leven, Aberhill, back to Leven, Methil, then through Kirkcaldy to Burntisland, back to Kirkcaldy, Lochgelly Station, Lochgelly, Dunfermline, Stirling, Crieff, Perth, and back to Dundee.

From Dundee to Montose to Perth to Auchterader to Perth to Blairgowrie to Dundee... this was the fourth day of my holiday, and these trips helped contribute towards my 150 bus journeys in July!

Perth - Glenshee - Ballater was via Bluebird's new "heather hopper" (it's two words this time!) summer service 502.

As well as a medical review/appointment, snapped the Miller Comedy Festival open top Metrobus passing Sandyford. In the city centre, I spotted former Glasgow LA1204 on North Hanover Street, a McKindless Metrobus, and more besides. I then headed for the bus station, before snapping one of the former National Express Van Hool's on Citylink work for Parks, plus the gold MAN double decker for Stagecoach West Scotland.

By bus from Dundee via Forfar to Brechin, by Caledonian Railway diesel powered trains for the day to Bridge of Dun, by former Strathtay bus 543 to Montrose, and then by bus back to Dundee.

Visits to the GVVT Bridgeton, First Glasgow Larkfield (because there was building work going on at Parkhead!), Coatbridge, First Glasgow Cumbernauld, Stagecoach Glasgow Blochairn, and some from Glasgow before & afterwards.

A varied collection of stuff to round off the year. Warning - includes pictures of transport infrastructure and "funky bus" gadgets looking less than their best, which some transport officers may find upsetting...

Almost the last selection for November, this is another handful from around Dundee City Centre today.

Another Dundee-London rounder, both journeys Neoplan operated throughout! This time, shots of some of the purple (3) branded MetroShuttle Solo's, amongst other stuff around the city centre.

Highlights of this handful include a Strathtay B7TL with flickering blinds promoting the Debenhams 25% off event, a Forfar Volvo Olympian on the 77B (yes I was up early enough!), some Debs 25% off material dumped round the back of the store, and a Travel Dundee Dart on the 14.

A few unusuals including Strathtay Solo 257 on the 39, from around Dundee City Centre. Cold but not too bad, but it gradually got worse whilst hanging round town for a bus that was running late... then stuck on the realtime as due in 3mins... then disappeared... and then I later found out had been turned short...

Trip to Dunfermline, Edinburgh, then back to Dundee. No Edinburgh pics due to the wind and rain, but pics of buses in Dunfermline, including a new Fife Solo, and the last weekday of Yellow Taxibus.

To get November off to a good start, trip via Broxden Park & Ride to Inverness, where I have some pictures around the city, and then back to Broxden, and onto Glasgow, before returning to Dundee. Pictures include those of an independant operator with a familiar name (no connection I promise, although I did go for a rounder on their Service 30...)

A very busy day, but I still managed a handful of pictures in Dundee City Centre before heading to Perth. Today saw one of the new "Muirton On The Move" branded Solo's in Perth High Street as an information bus, amongst many other things.

Some Dundee stuff, including Monday's Excel on the 14, Tuesday's pictures include two of the yellow "School Bus" vehicles (neither on school buses at the time), and a variety of others.

It's the last weekday before the start of XCD (X-City Direct). Pics from around the city, including some from the Travel Dundee and Strathtay depots. XCD lettering now on some buses too! The "index" image is image 4,000 since the new camera was purchased at the end of January 2005.

The return trip. I was staying close to Dod(w)orth station, so some pics there before progressing via Meadowhall (Northern) to Manchester Piccadilly (First TPE), then some pics and shopping in Manchester before Megabus Volvo 52195 back to Dundee.

Originally, this was to be a long weekend, but circumstances dictated otherwise yesterday (see the blog). So, Friday night overnight by megabus to London, then morning pictures from Victoria, Canary Wharf, Gallieons Reach, Whitehall, Victoria again, then via megabus to Tibshelf and Meadowhall, then by Northern trains to Barnsley interchange, and then by cab to the Bluebell Inn.

The longest trip you can do in a day from Dundee, without staying overnight. From Dundee, Megabus to Manchester, and then stayed around town, mostly on the MetroShuttles (which are soon to be joined by a third). Some old familiar faces in this lot too...

It's Friday. It's wet. It's cold. It's windy. It's warm. It's windy. It's congested. It's running late. It's Dundee city centre on a Friday. Also featuring pictures from Kingsway West Retail Park, and Broughty Ferry. As it was very blowy (too blowy for a skirt, even for me!) some of the pictures are done with me against the wind or driving rain, so watch out for some slight camera shake on certain prints.

Trip to Montrose, then via Service 52 and 116 to Forfar. Then, 21A to Edzell, and Nicoll's Green Bus Mercedes on the 29 back. 30 to Montrose, then some locals before a rounder on the 30 to Edzell/Stracathro, and back to Montrose for the 29 to Edzell Woods - and back to Dundee again.

A few pictures from around the city centre, and Technology Park. Travel Dundee Gemini 09 is depicted on the shuttle bus to Camperdown Park for the Dundee Food & Flower Show, and therer are some shots of our new bus shelter at Apollo Way West near my work. Shame it took several months to get it, but there you go.

Trip to Edinburgh & Glasgow. A handful of pics from Edinburgh include the "new" Lothian red, and the Irn-Bru offside advert on an Olympian. A slightly wider selection in Glasgow, mostly from Hope Street. Lots of buses, two Ailsa's, and a suprise at Thomson's Coffee shop...

To finish what was a real "maximum miles" month, day trip from Dundee via Blairgowrie to Glenisla, Auchavan. Back to Dundee city centre, then to Montrose, for the Battle of Borrowfield take four. Finally, back to Dundee, followed by a round trip to Ethiebeaton Park and back home again.

Are you ready for this? Fourteen and a half hour trip, leaving the house in time for the 0634 train to Montrose. Then, Strathtay 104 to Stonehaven, 104 to Laurencekirk, 102 to Stonehaven, then switch to a Bluebird Explorer with the 107 to Aberdeen, then 263 to Peterhead, 269 to Fraserburgh, 267 to Aberdeen, X7 to Stonehaven, 101 to Montrose, then Strathtay for the 40A back to Dundee. Lots of good stuff!

Trip to Perth for the afternoon, to see Stagecoach's plans (at the Bell's Sports Centre) for the North Muirton service group (see the blog and the Forum for the details). In the meantime, pics before and after of Smith & Sons, Strathtay, Stagecoach and Pegasus, including that Megabus Citybus on the school run intended (not service 11, contract XCS/011 or whatever!) An oddity was a Leyland Olympian on Services 1/2.

The more traditional SVBM open weekend is held the weekend before the english Bank holiday. I attended Sunday afternoon, where new goodies included former Strathtay 716 and Bluebird 5 - yes, these things do qualify as preserved! - as well as another single deck bus for Compass Stress Management Consultancy.

The first day back of the Angus, Dundee and Perth & Kinross school terms, which meant all the big buses should be back in place. Trip around Angus to see a variety of things, including Leopard 536 on the 49, and many more.

A trip to catch up with some "last days"... pass by the launch of the revised Forfar town services... and then back to Dundee, and onto Perth... and home again. Dundee, Montrose, Laurencekirk, Stonehaven, Brechin, Forfar, Dundee, Newtyle, Perth, Dundee.

An English trip, with no London or the midlands involved! Trip via Broxden to Edinburgh, Berwick, Seahouses, Alnwick, Amble, Otterburn, Jedburgh, Edinburgh, and then back to Edinburgh, and home to Dundee. Wide selection of minibuses, coaches, and some stuff you wouldn't normally find here!

Paid leave day from work (new four-day week goes down to three this week only!) as I take in the Burntisland Games Service 21 by Stagecoach (one day a year!), and other stuff from Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline (including new Darts, and an Olympian on the 76!), Ballingry, Burntisland, Aberhill and St Andrews.

Less than forty eight hours after the terrorist attacks in Central London, I was back in the capital. As a former tube employee, it was a mix of concern and curiosity, but it worked well in the end, meeting friends for shopping & drinks throughout the day. Trip includes Tottenham Court Road, Kings Cross, Finchley, Southgate, Turnpike Lane, Wood Green, Archway, Ealing Broadway, Southall (usual Satuday night spearing of eight Uxbridge Road buses at a time), Heathrow, then back to Dundee via Victoria and Keele Services.

Last part of the trip incluldes some late night stuff from Heathrow Airport, more Victoria , plus also pics of what happened on the way home... bus changed at Stagecoach Glasgow Blochairn, and the belt snapped at Moodiesburn!

A varied mix. Pictures of DLR posters at Stratford, a defective ticket machine at Deptford Bridge, the London Eye, the Coke "tube" at Piccadilly Circus, stuff near Great Portland Street, and at Marleybone, Baker Street, Harrow, Hillingdon and Uxbridge.

All the photos in this part were taken at WA, Stagecoach's "second" Stratford garage, which is used for artic storage when not on the 25, and for location of Megabus vehicles when spare. Lots of visitors and preserved vehicles included.

Trip around the First operating area, with pictures taken at St Andrews (reconstruction of the bus station), Stirling ("Dowa" month was MARCH, this is now JUNE, and there was at least seven of them!), Balfron, (no pictures in Glasgow), Livingston, Edinburgh, and one in Dundee. Pictures taken include some off the OmniDekka, including traffic congestion at the sight of the new Hermiston Park & Ride (under construction, as we can see!), 175 on the post-gallery shuttle 44A service, and a few other goodies. There are also some pictures from around Cameron Toll, including some part-routes about to head home for the day.

In a follow-up to last week, a trip to Perth, Blairgowrie (for new Strathtay Solo 253), then back to Dundee, then to Downfield via Murroes and Auchterhouse, and back home. There are also some additional pictures from earlier in the week, of Strathtay Volvo B10BLE's 614 and 615, and others from around Dundee city centre and Ninewells Hospital.

Arbroath, Montrose, Brechin & Forfar pictures. Very wet, except a little brighter in Montrose. The main hunt for the day were two of Strathtay's new Solo's - both grabbed on camera. Also spotted was Angus Council's italian built Dotto land train (twice!), and an interesting observation as to why the bus stop at the Shell garage in Montrose Bridge Street needs two cases... Non-local vehicles spotted include a pair of Plaxtons - a Cheetah and Premiere - from Watermill Coaches.

Day two of the changes. The "new" look 36/37, new 28/29 terminus, and duplicates everywhere. Lots of Gemini's off route too.

Travel Dundee's service changes took effect today. Service 18/18A/19 is no longer interworked witht he 4A, as the 4A has become a 4B, thus not following the same route or stops in town. So, the bus arriving as a 18A at Albert Square at xx17 blinds up 18A City Centre, then returns to the depot, and comes back the next hour in time to do the xx10 18A Kirkton. So, another bus tied up, and for 75% of the time, it's doing nowt...

A fanned set of the new Travel Dundee leaflets, and Arbroath based Strathtay Dart 303 on the late evening (2110) 76 at Technology Park Apollo Way.

A very congested Perth city centre, Alyth, Kirriemuir, and Monifieth. Highlights include the Drive-A-Bus Renault driver training vehicle, Meffans rebodied Leyland Leopard, and a Go-Flexi Dart of Stagecoach in Dundee on the 99A - in the early evening!

Trip to the capital, with an unidentified overseas vehicle, one of McNee's Optare Solos, First Scania Omnidekkas, and some stuff from across the City, Ocean Terminal, and Riccarton Campus.

Pictures from Dundee. Saturday 30th April 2005 is the last day before Travel Dundee's 1st May 2005 service changes i.e. tommorrow. Pics of the last 31 (withdrawn at City Quay without direct replacement), and a few others.

Another oddity for me - all these pictures were taken before lunchtime! Selection includes Travel Dundee Gemini 08 on the 1C, Mercedes SB3 on Asda Kirkton shoppers bus, and former West Midlands Volvo/Alexander P type C60 HOM in the High Street. Who remembers when the Fife p-types used to come this way? (before pedestrianisation of course!)

Part one of the pictures I took on the Omnibus Society Lanarkshire Tour. This collection includes some from central Glasgow, plus visits to the Coakley Bus Company premises, and Motherwell town centre. Pictures from this tour are being split into three collections.

Was in St Andrews to pick up a parcel, and the City Road area (near the Bus Station) ground to a halt every few minutes. This was thanks to roadworks outside The Rasin, to replace the mini-roundabout with a big roundabout!

A full day trip to Glasgow - and inbetween a medical appointment and shopping, also managed a few photos in Dundee, Perth Broxden Park & Ride, Glasgow (including some sights from the First City Tour), East Kilbride (new bus station under construction), Hamilton (a little too bright at that time but never mind!), then Buchanan Bus Station in the pm peak, and home to Dundee for mid-evening.

Before the tour, trip via Corstorphine (tried in vain for the artic!) The tour included a visit to the Fastlink guided busway, then Eve, Don Prentice, Lothian Buses Marine depot, and then back to Edinburgh, with some snaps taken at Waterloo Place, some of the old New Street depot, then a few more dark ones at The Gyle, before heading for home.

The trip from London back to Dundee got into Glasgow 45 minutes early, giving us plenty of time for a stop. Some pics taken from around the Bus Station.

Just the one from Friday 18th February, taken at Dundee Ninewells Hospital. Unusually, Strathtay 429 was on Service 75, with conductor.

I found this bus parked up in Menzieshill between school runs this morning. The vehicle is still with lettering for the aborted City Tour from Summer 2004.

A Saturday trip to Aberdeen with a twist - Dundee to Montrose on the 39, Montrose to Laurencekirk on the 9, and Laurencekirk to Aberdeen on the 103! Came back via an artic on Megabus. So, some pics from Montrose, including Strathtay 311 now in use, Laurencekirk, and from Aberdeen city centre.

Following the success of borronwing a friend\'s Fuji A330, and on the recommendation of several others, I bought one of my own. Here, I have taken a selection of pics around the City, on my day off! These pics include my first grab of the \"Friendly Bus\" (Strathtay Solo 251) and the first pic I\'ve had of Service 70 in a long time... certainly the first digital one! Anyway, experimental pictures may include a few which were later modified in PSP, plus a few comparison shots i.e. zoom/no zoom. Enjoy!

An early one here! The 0640 Aberdeen - 0820 Dundee - London on Monday 31st January was the first Scottish service (one managed to sneak on the London - Bournmeouth run last night!) to see a new Neoplan Skyliner double deck coach from Megabus.com This is also the first day of their new-look website (recoded to use CSS), and the first day of using Glasgow and Edinburgh bus stations. In five weeks time, the bus stop will be moved from Yeaman Shore over to a stop near Discovery Point.

I've taken out those chopped pics, and the majority are usable - uploaded the lot to see what they looked like on the web. Therefore, one or two may look a little odd. Lots of Gemini's, Olympians, Citybuses, Routemasters (including one taken from the back top of another!), a Metrobus, and a couple of Ailsas! Enjoy!

Real bad weather across the UK, and all Dundee got was some dry snow on Thursday morning, and a snow shower on Friday evening! Decided to play it safe and stay reasonably close to home. So, St Andrews it was then...

Trip to Glasgow, and the surroundings today, to give the new digicam it's first real warm-up! Despite very changeable weather, managed to get to Clydebank and also had a few trips round the south side. All five pictures to be posted are from the City Centre.

Stagecoach in Perth held their 2002 "Golden Jubilee" (for Liz Windsor - not for the company!) running day today. Whilst Her Maj was elsewhere, and the event was on a slightly smaller scale than last year, there were a few surprises in store, and it was most worthwhile travelling to the "fair city".

For some reason only known to the camera, all the pictures I took today came out as black rectangles - bar this one!

Here's a few of the pix I took on the trip, including Arriva at Inchinnan and Greenock, as well as one in Dunfermline.

This was an unusual day in terms of Dundee buses, as some small vehicles ended up on busier services. MetroRider 206 was allocated to the 20/22 cross-city route, and this was replaced a few hours later by Dart 35... and more besides!

I am back in Scotland after a few days in London... one thing that was fairly obvious today was Travel Dundee 92 back on the road.

This is another roll of APS film, a 25 this time. The first picture may have been taken a months earlier in London, Grovesnor Gardens, and shows three new-ish Oxford Tube MAN double-deck coaches. The rest of the lot is around Dundee and Broughty Ferry. These are in reverse order of being taken.

This is another roll of APS film IIRC, and it includes some stuff from around Dundee and Perth. This was the one before the previous one - and like it, this one is back-to-front in terms of picture order. (Some of the early ones on this film may be from a seperate trip earlier in the year).

I'd came back up north from a week's work in west London, and the Saturday was the first day of the SVBM open weekend. Part 1 shows some of the stuff I saw on the way there - mostly from the Allison's and Stagecoach Fife depots in Dunfermline town.

Pictures from the Edinburgh Classic Bus Running Day, which this year ran from Holyrood Park via St Andrew Square bus station to Braids. A slight problem for the early journeys was that the road was closed into the park... when it was meant to have been open...

Part 2 of a 3 part series of pics in Dundee one particular Saturday in Summer 1999. This set include newly commissioned 'BOTANIC GARDENS' boards for use on the 9X/10X services... wonder if they will last onto other things this evening?

Part three of a set of three on a Saturday in Dundee city centre, including Travel Dundee's evening operations on the 7/8, 36/37, which use buses fro other routes. The 36 bus comes off the 9X/10X - which retained its 'first day in use' BOTANIC GARDENS board set! These also include Sunday morning shots from Travel Dundee's yard, and the first T In The Park 1999 pics from Perth.

This was either the last week in January, or the first week in February. Perth Bus Station parcel office had just closed, and I'd been made redundant. On the Wednesday, I had a trip to Arbroath and back. The next day (Thursday) I had a trip to Forfar, Brechin and Montrose, including the first day on Merlin's Ark new 'rural bus funded' Forfar - Brechin Service 151.

T In The Park Sunday around Perth bus station and the city centre. Includes some local stuff, as well as T shuttle 777. The latter is mostly worked by Strathtay, but a strange non-local visitor turned up to help plug a gap in the service...

Some buses from the special Park & Ride service running in Greenock. Lots of Lothian, Highland County, Clyde Coast, Arriva stuff, including former Tayside Ailsa's and the like! This was a very enjoyable, if hot, day!
